isee Program come to FLSD

isee, a program sponsored by the Ohio Optometric Foundation, was on campus today! isee provided an optometric technician and an optometrist that provided comprehensive eye exams for qualified students. In addition, the program provided custom eyeglasses at no charge, to students who were referred from a vision screening. Dr. Fisher, from Erie Shores Eye Care, was the attending doctor.

The Ohio Department of Health reports that over 70% of students referred to an eye doctor from a school vision screening, do not receive their necessary follow-up care. The iSee program seeks to bridge that gap by bringing comprehensive eye examinations and eyewear directly to students. Since its inception, the iSee program has treated over 1,500 students across the state. 90% of those students required eyeglasses and over 13% were found to have Amblyopia (commonly referred to as “lazy eye”) or other serious eye conditions.
