Food Service Update

New for 2023-2024 school year is the Direct Certification process for Free or Reduced -price meals using Medicaid information.  The Ohio State Department of Education (ODE) has been approved to participate in the United States Department of Agriculture’s Demonstration Project to Evaluate Direct Certification with Medicaid. Each student identified on a letter that may have been mailed to your home or will be mailed, is automatically approved for the meal status listed on the letter.

If your children are eligible for reduced-price benefits, your total household income and household size may make your children eligible for free benefits. Therefore, you may wish to submit a meal application.

The Biennial budget has allowed students that qualify for Reduced meals to receive them at no cost to the family.  Each district will be reimbursed by the State the .70 cent cost that your child / children would normally pay.  Instructional fees must still be paid if approved for Reduced meals.

If you receive a Direct Certification letter, please sign, and return the letter for instructional fees to be waived for Free students only. Your childs meal status is listed in the Primary Beneficiary section on the letter.
