Construction Update: March 31, 2021

The new two story Firelands High School construction project is coming along nicely! The 106,773 square foot project has multiple construction crews on site and it is right on schedule! We can easily see the west wall of the competition gym going up!

Throughout the project, block foundation is being installed to finished elevation. The building pad has been brought to grade and proof rolled. Water lines have been installed and storm sewers continue to be installed.

The following picture show the location of the new 6-12 cafeteria! The cafeteria has been carefully designed to allow for additional menu items to be offered due to a larger and more efficient kitchen prep area. The student/staff traffic pattern will permit a larger number of individuals being able to move though the service lines faster.

Members of our administrative team are standing where the new stage will be located! The stage will serve multiple groups including the Drama department. Currently, Drama is offered at FHS where the students learn the basics of acting and producing a live theatre show.

The far north area of the building will house the ELA and Math wing. The band and choir rooms will also be located in this general area.

The plumber and electrician have mobilized and are working with the concrete and masonry contractors installing sleeves in the footers and masonry walls as needed. The early spring like weather was helpful with the construction schedule to date. This project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2022!
