Columbus, OH- Three Firelands students qualified for and participated in the Ohio 4-H Horse Bowl on April 7th. The primary objective of Horse Bowl Competition is to provide an opportunity for 4-H members enrolled in horse projects to demonstrate their knowledge of equine-related matters in a competitive setting, where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. This competition provides an educational experience for both participants and the spectators. The competition is designed like academic challenge competitions and compares teams of four from counties all over Ohio in double elimination brackets. The Lorain County teams have been practicing for over for months. The teams are coached by Lora Hostal.
Morgan Nance, senior, is a member of Bits and Spurs 4-H Club and competed on the Lorain County Senior Team A. Her team earned 4th in the state (the best finish a Lorain County senior team has ever had!)
Callie Finnegan, 4th grade, and Macy Paller, 3rd grade, both members of Four Leaf Clovers 4-H Club competed on the Lorain County Junior Team. Their team made it to 8th place in Ohio.
Congratulations to these ladies and good luck at Ohio Hippology and Horse Judging in June!
