Sam Dempsey: Class of 2017

Sam Dempsey 2As a undergraduate at the University of Akron, Sam has his hand full with normal academic demands, and his passion for music production.

Sam’s work is growing in popuarity-quite a acchompolisment since his first release was only two years ago.

Dempsey states, “My style is heavily influenced by the trap or future bass genres of electronic music, and by modern hip-hop and pop music. Artists such as Flume, San Holo, and Daft Punk are idols of mine who I have tried to steer towards style-wise, while still developing my own unique sound, which has some sampled live instruments mixed with synths.”. He started watching music production videos sometime in my sophomore year of high school, and quickly moved onto to experimenting with sounds and styles that were his own.

Dempsey’s music is released under the stage name FLEUR.  He recently collaborated with vocalist and fellow Falcon, Macey Butchko, on “Imagine Before.”

Oberlin News Tribune 1955

Thanks to Neil Zurcher for posting the following article from 1955:

Here is a clipping from the Oberlin News-Tribune in 1955. The flag over Firelands High School had not been flying for some time and the paper contacted the school to see why. They were told that the ropes were tangled and they didn’t have the time, or money to fix it. The paper carried the story and the next day this group of Henrietta and Birmingham Veterans, Joe Knoble, Jerry Leimbach, Hubert Bates and Dick Angelo, showed up to fix the flagpole and get Old Glory flying again.
