Holiday Preview Wrap Up 2017

Our annual Holiday Preview & Brunch for our local senior citizens and retired FLSD employees was held on December 7, 2017, at Firelands High School. Doors opened at 9:30 am and entertainment was provided by our FES Music Students, FHS Select Choir, soloist Macey Butchko, and the FHS Jazz Band.

This annual tradition is held in part to thank all of the people who shaped our district into what it is today. Past generations have provided the building blocks to our future, and we are appreciative of the time that was given to our district and our students. It was fun to see early graduates from Camden, Florence, Brownhelm and South Amherst districts in attendance!

New this year, the FHS Visual Arts Department set up a gallery display.  In addition, these students made place mats, buttons, and provided the art work for the programs.

The Friends of Firelands, a non-profit organization created to positively promote the students, staff, and community, provided brunch for those in attendance. Approximately 100 guests attended what has become a fantastic holiday event.

Thanks to the following groups that made the event possible:

  • Retired FLSD Staff
  • Senior citizens from our community
  • Students of Jazz Band, Select Choir, 4th grade music classes, Macey Butchko (soloist)
  • Friends of Firelands
  • Teachers of the arts: Mrs. Johnson (Select Choir), Mr. Wiley  (Jazz Band) , Mrs. Woods (FES Music), and Mrs. Tawil (FHS Art)
  • TLC Students and Mr. O’Rourke
