Student Summer Achievement 2017

Many of our students work very hard throughout the year on activities that take place outside of school.   Take a minute and see what some of them were up to over break:

Callie Finnegan

Callie shows saddle & miniature horses and market hogs.

She is Lorain County 4-H points leader in saddle horse showmanship, horsemanship, and western pleasure. She is Lorain County 4-H points leader in miniature horse showmanship and trail-in-hand, second place in halter and hunter.

Callie qualified for state fair to show her miniature horse in July. She earned 3rd place in Showmanship age 9-18 class at state fair!

She also studied hard for Lorain County horse and pig skillathons  and Ohio State Fair Horse Skillathon.  Callie won the nine-year-old division at Ohio State Fair, the only winner from Lorain County. She won a rosette and a large premium! She also had a score high enough to be deemed an “outstanding achiever,” for which she won another rosette and an embroidered blanket. The topics of study for the skillathon were: hoof and leg management, parasites, nutrition, and diseases.

Wishing Callie continued success!

Hailey and Logan Urban

In August, Hailey and Logan Urban (11-year-old Twins), competed in the Ohio Archers Association State 900 Round Archery Competition.  Hailey placed 2nd in the Cub Female Bowhunter Freestyle Division and Logan place 1st in the Cub Male Bowhunter Freestyle Division.  Logan also broke the State Record shooting a 864 out of 900.  This weekend OAA also announced the Shooter of The Year winners.  Logan was the Shooter of The Year for the CMBFS Division receiving a Shooter of the Year belt buckle.  OAA hosts 7 State shoots a year, Shooter of The Year is awarded to each class to the archer who has the highest point total at the end of the season. This is something all shooters work toward each year and hope they can achieve.     Well done Hailey and Logan!
