June 2, 2017 was a beautiful evening for the 63rd Annual Commencement Exercises in The Falcon Stadium. As is tradition, seniors arrived early to get ready inside FHS.
After the entrance procession and students were seated, Senior Class President, Elizabeth Skolnik and class speakers; Emily Wagner, Matthew Brightbill and Sarah Slack welcomed everyone in attendance. They each shared thoughts on the day and the future of their classmates.
FHS Principal Robert Maver lead the ceremony as one hundred thirty-one students received their diplomas. Diplomas were awarded from Superintendent Mike Von Gunten and FLSD Board Members, Mr. Ben Gibson, Dr. Jane Battig, Mr. Tom Myers, Mr. Dan Pycraft, and Mr. Mike O’Keefe.
The Class of 2017 received just over $910,000 in scholarships. In addition, they earned $390,000 worth of College Credits through the CCP Program. The combined total dollars in scholarships awarded is $1,300,000!
In addition, multiple student achievement were recognized along with identification of four of our students that are joining the military. We thank Aaron Alston, Bailey Cromer, Richard Surovey, and Andrew Williams for their choice on a military career.
