Bill Rennie-FHS class of 1980

Chief Bill Rennie has officially retired from the Florence Township Fire Department after 25 years of service.  Rennie oversaw 44 firefighters and was a dedicated and respected chief. Although he has retired as Fire Chief, he will stay on as a member of the fire department. Thank you, Chief Rennie, for your years of leadership and dedication.

 

Ron Baumann-FHS Class of 1981

Officers and members of Florence Twp Fire Dept would like to also recognize Captain Ron Baumann for his years of service as an officer of this fine department. Ron retired as an officer but will remain an active fire department member and he will continue to serve the community.

Jake Myers-FHS Class of 2012

Jake Myers College Graduation

Congratulations to Jake Myers! Jake recently graduated from Ohio University. Myers earned an Environmental Geology Degree from Hocking College, then transferred to Ohio University where he got his BS in Geology. Myers played on the Club Baseball team and was in the Geology Club while at Ohio University. He is currently looking for a Field Geology position. He will be attending field camp in Wyoming, South Dakota, and Montana, later this summer.

 

Dannin Butchko-FHS Class of 2013

Congratulations to Dannin Butchko! Dannin graduated from Walsh University on April 29th with a Bachelor’s of Science degree.  After spending time at area hospitals, Butchko became active in the Dance Marathon at Walsh (a movement benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals) where she furthered her desire to make lives better for people while supporting the cause as the Hospital Relations Chair.

While completing her undergraduate work, she was awarded a scholarship towards her master’s program as a result of her acrylic artwork, “Yellow Dog”, through An Eye For Design. Butchko minored in art and plans to initiate art therapy into all future geriatric programs.

Upon graduation she was accepted into the Society of Collegiate Leadership and Achievement Society. She is working through an accelerated graduate program for a MBA of Health Care Management specializing in geriatrics.

Jessica Zurcher – FHS Class of 2013

Jessica graduated from Indiana Tech on May 13, 2017. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering as well as the Outstanding Graduate Award for Biomedical Engineering.

Zurcher was involved with the Indiana Tech Women’s Soccer (Team Leading Scorer and Captain for this season), Alpha Chi National Honors Society President, NSBE, Alpha Eta Mu Beta Biomedical Engineering Honors Society (Treasurer), and the Society of Women Engineers. She was also a Resident Assistant for three years and have served as the Lead Resident Assistant for the previous two years.
She has accepted a full-time position at Zimmer-Biomet as a Quality Development Program Engineer in Warsaw, Indiana.

 

Emma Northeim – FHS Class of 2013

Emma graduated from Bowling Green State University on May 6th with a Bachelor’s Degree in Inclusive Early Childhood Education. She studied abroad at Keele University in Stoke-on-Trent England in the spring of 2015, and was an active member of Kappa Delta Pi an International Honors Society in Education. Emma also enjoyed working at the BGSU Ice Arena as an arena usher. She is looking forward to beginning her career as a teacher!
