Senior Fest by Lorain County Office on Aging and Lorain General Health District

The Lorain County Office on Aging and the Lorain General Health District will host Senior Fest 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m., April 27, in the Spitzer Center at Lorain County Community College.

Senior Fest 2017 is a free event that seeks to provide fun and entertainment throughout the afternoon. The event will include health tips, health screenings, demonstrations and more.

Antique appraisals by Gregg Mazurek of Collector’s Gallery will provide one free item appraisal per person; all items should be small enough to carry. Debra Rose will perform hits from the 1950’s.

Door prizes will be given away every hour during the event. Per The Morning Journal

FFA News


Friday, April 7th is the annual FFA Drive Your Tractor to School Day! This tradition has been going on for over 35 years. The day will wrap up FFA week at Firelands High School. The week  promotes agricultural education and the overall program.

Spring Break

Firelands Local Schools will be on Spring Break starting April 14th. School will resume on April 24th.

DYE & DASH   at Mercy Rec Center

You bring the Eggs, We bring the FUN!  

 This FUN filled family activity hosted at the Mercy Health & Recreation Center is perfect for any age on Sunday, April 9th (12:00 pm-1:00 pm).

Families will come prepared for the activity by bringing a dozen hard boiled eggs for the program, where the family will enjoy creative and fun ways to dye eggs with the rest of the participants. A special guest (Easter Bunny) will be making an appearance and having a photo opportunity.

Registration ($2/child) is available at or on event day.

LCCC Career Services, Lorain County JVS and Ohio Means Jobs Host Career Fair

April 6, 2017 — A career fair will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 at Lorain County Community College’s (Website | Profile) John A. Spitzer Conference Center and the Ben and Jane Norton Culinary Arts Center. The free event can help job seekers looking for a wide variety of opportunities.

More than 100 employers plan to participate. Attendees should dress professionally and bring resumes as they will meet employers and make connections.

The companies featured include those in manufacturing, banking/finance, allied health and nursing, computer software, criminal justice, law enforcement, transportation, retail and others. The fair is sponsored by: LCCC Career Services, Lorain County JVS (Website | Profile) and Lorain County Ohio Means Ohio.
