Boys Basketball to support local shelters

The Firelands Boys Basketball team and the Open Door boys basketball team are joining forces to help the St. Joseph Homeless Shelter in Lorain and the Family Promise shelters in Lorain County.  The teams are asking people to bring items from the attached wish lists from those organizations to the home games this weekend (vs. Black River Friday night and Open Door Christian School on Saturday night).  If you cannot make it to the game items can be left at the high school office.  Players from both teams will deliver the items to the shelters.

Current list of items which we use on a daily basis and are always in need:

  • 12 oz. foam bowls
  • 8 oz. foam cups
  • Men’s flip flops (they use in the shower) – size Medium, Large & X-Large
  • Men’s deodorant
  • Coffee creamer
  • Sugar
  • Coffee
  • H/E Laundry Detergent
  • Plastic Spoons and Forks (we do not need plastic knives as we have plenty)
  • Sweetened cereal
  • Lysol or Pine Sol (for cleaning)



  • Gift card – Target
  • Gift card – Walmart
  • Liquid body wash
  • Deodorant  (mens & womens)
  • Paper towels
  • Kitchen size garbage bags – 13 gallon drawstring
  • Black garbage bags – 30 gallon drawstring
  • Dish Soap
  • Disinfecting wipes
  • Disinfecting spray
  • Scrubbing bubbles
  • All purpose cleaner (ex Mr. Clean)
