LCCC to Host Lorain County College Fair October 6th
This Sunday October 9 we are hosting our 3rd Annual Historic Cemetery Walk entitled “If Tombstones Could Talk”. The event takes place at the Brownhelm Cemetery on the corners of North Ridge Rd and Sunnyside Road from 4-6pm.
We will have 12 costumed re-enactors portraying the early settlers and prominent residents of Brownhelm that are buried at the cemetery. Each re-enactor will be at the headstone and will share stories of their life and times. Some of the settlers that you will meet include:
- Col. Henry Brown will greet the groups and share the history of the Connecticut Western Reserve and how he came to found Brownhelm 200 years ago in 1816!
- Mrs. Grandsion Fairchild, mother of James H Fairchild, president of Oberlin College 1866-1889. He was a committed abolitionist and played a role in the famous Oberlin-Wellington Rescue.
