Crawford makes local 4-H chapter proud

Donald Crawford is in 8th grade at SAMS, but his dedication to his 4-H  projects would make you double guess his young age.

Donald won the Intermediate Division for Lorain County 4-H Endowment Thank You Note

contest this year.

Every year this contest is held and open to the 4-H members of Lorain County.  The winning designs are then printed and available at the fair for all fair goers to use.  The Endowment board then pays for all of the mailing associated with those notes.

In addition to his drawing talent, Donald also enjoys raising birds.  His flock consists of several breeds of chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese.  He showed multiples of these at the Ohio State Fair this year.  His flock brought home many class winners as well as having the Best Goose at the Ohio State Fair this year.  In addition to the State Fair, some of his flock also took home prizes from the Lorain County Fair in both the Junior Fair and Senior Fair divisions.

Donald also participated as a member of the Lorain County Avian Bowl Junior Division Team.  The teams competed at the Ohio State Fair in August.  He had the 7th highest individual score and the junior team took home 4th place.  His team members consisted of other 4-H members from across the county.  He was voted team captain as well.  The teams worked incredibility hard and did extremely well for only working together for 4 months prior to the contest.
