FHS Art Field Trip 2016

The FHS Art 3, Art 4 and Advanced Art students spent an extended day on May 18 exploring visual art in Cleveland. Twenty-eight students accompanied by thirteen gracious chaperones began the day in Ohio City. Our first stop was The Cleveland Tea Revival, an independent business in “Hingetown” owned and operated by FHS ’04 graduate Amber Pompeii. Our next stop was the Intermuseum Conservation Association, right next door. The ICA is an “art hospital” where works on paper, fibers, painting and all objects are conserved and repaired for individual and museum collectors across the country. The students witnessed conservation-in-progress in this exclusive behind the scenes tour of four of their lab areas. Our lunch stop was in the best food court in Cleveland- the West Side Market! Our final destination was the Cleveland Museum of Art where students worked in small groups to investigate portraits that will be developed into classroom projects. This whole experience was made possible through our coloring book sales, Art Society fundraising and donations from the Stained Glass Window Mosaic auction.
