Academic Challenge Update 2016

Great News for our 5th-8th grade Academic Challenge Teams!

Previously, Lorain County Middle Schools did not participate in Academic Challenge competitions. This led our Academic Challenge advisers to search out opportunities for our students to be able to take part in these competitions.  The advisers were able to work with Erie County and they created an opportunity for our students to take part in Erie County’s Academic Challenge competitions. Thanks to the efforts of these dedicated individuals, Firelands took part (and were the only Lorain County School to do so) and were extremely competitive in the competitions.

Now, we are happy to announce, (thanks to a group effort from Mrs. Copley, Mrs. Muth, Mrs. Schuster, Mr. Ring and Mrs. Hunt) that Lorain County will now be hosting our own Middle School Academic Challenge competition!

New this year, students will be teamed together (5th/ 6th grades and 7th/8th grades). Students will be challenged in Literature/Language Arts, geography, social studies, etc. The Academic Challenge advisers will soon be meeting with students to discuss competition materials.

The first challenge of the 2016-2017 school year will take place in November. We are proud that our staff helped create this wonderful opportunity for so many Lorain County students!

Go Falcons!
