December Fit Walks

Don’t hang up your sneakers just yet – Lorain County Fit Walks are now indoors. In December, fitness walks are a great opportunity to get active for FREE while staying out of the cold. Dates for fitness walks this month are:

• On Mondays: December 7, 14, 21, and 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lorain County Metro Parks Splash Zone, 95 West Hamilton Rd. in Oberlin
• On Thursdays: December 3, 10, and 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Mercy Health and Recreation Center, 47160 Hollstein Dr. in Amherst
• On Fridays: December 4, 11, and 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the French Creek YMCA, 2010 Recreation Ln. in Avon.

“Walking helps decrease blood pressure, reduce body fat, lower the risk of heart-disease, and lower stress levels, by releasing natural endorphins that promote the feeling of happiness,” states David Covell, RS, MPH, Lorain County General Health District Health Commissioner.

No membership is required and all ages are invited to join. You are welcome to join a walk whenever you have time in your schedule; a weekly commitment is not necessary.

Henrietta United Methodist Church Announcement

The HUMC has announced that it has started a partnership with St. Pauly to collect used clothing. According to the EPA, 85%cross_flame of clothing in the US is thrown away instead of donated. To help offset this number, and to fill a basic need, the church has installed a used clothing drop off shelter at its location (2148 State Route 113, Amherst).  Clothing donations are requested in bags (to help keep items clean) and then they are bundled together. The bundles are sent all over the world, including to people in the US, who are in need.  The church will assist in this mission and in return will receive a small payment. People who donate will help those in need and will receive a tax deduction form at the time of drop off.

What to Donate:

Used Clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, pillowcases, blankets, curtains, and stuffed animals.
