Teachers Baumbick and Carlock receive funding

Congratulations to South Amherst Middle School!

Mrs. Darla Baumbick and Mr. John Carlock, 8th grade Social Study teachers, have received funding for their Living History Museum program. The pair have acquired a $1,000 grant through the Nordson Grant Foundation!

This project requires students to work in small groups to research and bring to life an US History topic. When complete, groups present their information to  6th and 7th graders during afternoon visits. The displays are not only interactive, they are also entertaining! This assignment immerses students in the history project that they choose.

Two projects from past Living History Museums:

Thanks to this grant opportunity, the teachers are now able to defer basic material costs for each student. Students will now be able to focus on a deeper understanding of project, and not have to worry about funding.

Congratulations Mrs. Baumbick and Mr. Carlock!
