In 2012, coaches Bob Moran and Bill Bonham, along with OHSVCA President Scott Taylor, came up with an idea to host a volleyball tournament that would not only give area teams a chance to play over the summer, but also raise money for fellow coaches in need. The Coaches 4 Coaches (C4C) non-profit organization was quickly formed.
In 2013 the non-profit organization held its first tournament for Coach Belcher. She was the former head volleyball coach at Toledo Central Catholic H.S. and a teacher in the Sylvania school district. But due to a battle with A.L.S., Coach Belcher was forced to resign both positions at the young age of 41.
In 2014, Coach Souder and her family were chosen as recipients of the C4C support. The family was busy raising 3 children. When their youngest, Liam, was just 18 months old, he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. Coach Souder and her family traveled between Columbus, New York, and Houston for treatments. The 2014 C4C tournament took place just before Liam’s last phase of a year and a half long treatment protocol. They are happy to share that Liam is now cancer free!
This year, C4C choose to support the family of Jim Muth. A volleyball tournament, The Summer Classic, was held over the summer and our varsity volleyball team participated with over 60 other teams. On September 22, 2015, the memory of Jim was once again honored at FHS. C4C presented Mrs. Muth a check from the proceeds of the Summer Classic tournament.
