Firelands Schools approve plan for new school

Firelands School Board unanimously approved cooperation with the state to build a school for grades six through 12.

The agreement with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission calls for the state to pay $6.2 million and school district taxpayers to pay $26.6 million for a total of $32.8 million.

Boys basketball: Alan Januzzi leaving Lutheran West for Firelands

Firelands new boys basketball coach won’t need much of an introduction in the community, in Lorain County or around the Patriot Athletic Conference.

Alan Januzzi, former Lutheran West coach and one-time Firelands assistant, will take over the Falcons, pending final board of education approval Tuesday. Januzzi said the chance to coach in the school district where he has resided the past 18 years and where his children have gone to school was one he couldn’t pass up.

June 2, 2015 — Plants, according to Jamie Penkava, are unique in color, form and texture. They not only provide beauty to a landscape, but they clean the air. The teenager from Amherst, Ohio plans a career with them – maybe being a landscape designer.
