The Falcon Racing Team takes an impressive 4th at the All American Soap Box Derby!soap box derby

This was only the second year Firelands participated in the Derby. We were the only middle school team from Lorain County to participate, and we raced against teams from grades 6-12. In the end, we held our own and placed a respectable 4th out of over 130 teams!

The students and coaches prepared for The Gravity Racing Challenge that promotes the STEM Initiative (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). Our two teams of students and teachers assembled their race cars for the annual International Gravity Racing Challenge school team race, that was held May 16, 2015 at Akron’s world famous Derby Downs Track.

After much planning, the races finally began. Both cars placed high enough to advance to the second round. Our first car was eliminated in the third round and the orange and green car won the 4th place trophy for the Falcon Racing Team!
