Good luck to our Falcon Racing Team!
The All-American Soap Box Derby Gravity Racing Challenge takes place on May 16, 2015 in Akron, Ohio.
The Gravity Racing Challenge is using gravity racing to promote the STEM Initiative (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in classrooms, after school, during the summer and in enrichment programs worldwide. Teams of students and teachers assemble and fine tune their race cars for the annual International Gravity Racing Challenge school team race, held each May at Akron’s world famous Derby Downs Track.
Preparations for the May 16, 2015 Gravity Racing Challenge competition are almost complete, with school teams composed of up to 10 student members (driver, alternate driver, 2-4 pit crew members and media specialists) and two coaches, now forming.
This is the second year our school is participating in this program. We are the only middle school in Lorain County taking part in this great opportunity. We have had enough interest this year to support two Falcon teams. Students will compete against other teams in the 6-12 grade levels.
Students participating this year are: Hailie Bates, Megan Bowling, Michael Campbell, Lexy Coggins, Kenzie Denney, Colton Griffith, Brian Harvey, Luke Oliver, Emily Stewart, Josh Truskot, and Ryan Walker. The team is coached by Mr. Latto and Mr. Pelphrey.
Good luck Falcon Racing Team!
