The Firelands FFA had its most successful State FFA Conventions in school history last week! On April 29th, 21 students travelled to Columbus for the 2 day convention. Students helped pack meals for
over 88,000 people in need, enjoyed leadership sessions, and explored the career show and FFA mall.
Five students had previously qualified for top-four-in-state proficiencies and interviewed for final placings. Congratulations to Katy Tuggle for winning Sheep Production Entrepreneurship, Alex Sabine won Fruit Production Placement, Demi Dovin won Dairy Production Entrepreneurship, and Brandon Palmer placed second in Ag. Processing Entrepreneurship, and Katie Fath earned 3rd place in state for Ag. Sales Placement. Katy Tuggle, Alex, and Demi will all move on to represent Ohio at the national level. Firelands FFA was recognized as a National Gold Chapter, and the school’s application moves on for national ranking. Demi Dovin, David Tipple, and Katie Fath were recognized as gold rated officers. Firelands was recognized for their key support of Children’s Hospital and for their work with FFA Fights Hunger.
Finally, 11 members were recognized for earning the State FFA Degree.
Congratulations to: Mike Anadell, Jessica Beran, Alison Butler, Albert Fath V, Katie Fath, Caitlin Gallagher, Brandon Palmer, Emily Pohorence, Alex Sabine, David Tipple, & Katy Tuggle. These students are now among only about 2% of FFA members to earn this awar, which is the highest degree a high schooler can receive. Finally, the FFA would like to thank the over 30 adults that came to support us and experience this important event with us; we really appreciate it.
