All-Lorain County soccer: D-II Player of the Year Firelands’ Jordan Ruffner an athlete for all seasons

In an era of specialization, Firelands senior Jordan Ruffner is a Renaissance man.
Ruffner, a three-sport athlete for the Falcons, scored 20 goals to go along with eight assists this season for a Firelands team that finished 11-1-5 to earn the Lorain County Soccer Coaches Association Division II Player of the Year Award.

Midview has a big football game coming up Friday, but the Middies were able to do some celebrating Wednesday.

As were a bunch of area football players and teams thanks to the All-Northeast Ohio District Football Team which was released by The Associated Press.

Off the hook! Firelands crochet corps rallies

When 16-year-old Katy Tuggle asked for volunteers to help crochet hats, scarves, and blankets for charity, she thought it would be a struggle to round up three or four helpers.

Was she ever surprised.

The Firelands High junior had 57 fellow students jump at the chance, including a cadre of boys who told her that “real men crochet.”
