The students in third grade have been learning about the “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade”. This year is the 90th anniversary of the parade! The balloon characters were introduced to the parade, with the help of Mr. Tony Sarg. Attendance at the parades were increasing every year, but the spectators were having difficulty seeing the displays. Mr. Sarg worked in conjunction with the Goodyear Blimp Company to make the displays easier to see.
The students studied the history of Tong Sarg and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade by reading books, internet articles, and watching video clips. These students then wrote an essay, created timelines and created a balloon that they would like to see in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The entire building lined the halls to see what the students had created.
On Tuesday, November 25, 2014, these students debuted their finished balloons in the first FES Third Grade Thanksgiving Day Parade!
The fifth grade band students were spit into two areas of the building. They provide music for the students to march to!
The third grade students created a wonderful project and the fifth grade band supported them beautifully! Congratulations to the students for putting on such a great parade for everyone to enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving!
