My name is Amy Powers and I am very excited to be joining the Firelands School District. This will be my 6th year of teaching and I am really looking forward to getting to know the community. I grew up in Seven Hills, Ohio and attended Baldwin Wallace University where I got my initial teaching license in middle childhood math and science. Then I returned to Baldwin Wallace to get my Master’s degree in special education. I will be focusing on special education co-teaching at Firelands Elementary School as a 5th grade intervention specialist. Prior to Firelands, I taught in Berea and Columbia Station in math, science, and language arts classes in grades 5-12.
When I am not working on my “homework,” I spend a lot of time with my family. I have a brother who is a firefighter and a sister who just graduated high school. She will be beginning to study child development and hopes to work at a daycare. We spend a lot of time with our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. There seems to always be an occasion for us to get together for! I also enjoy cooking, jogging, yoga, reading, and teaching of course!
