Athletic Update

Falcon with red trimThe Athletic Department is now offering Athletic Event Passes:

  • 10 game Student Passes for $20
  • 10 game Adult Passes for $ 40
  • Senior Citizen Year Long Passes $ 15

Passes can be purchased at any home varsity contest or from FHS/SAMS main office secretaries. Passes are good for any regular season home contest. They are not honored for OHSAA tournaments, away games, or any special invitational or tournaments.

The FHS Athletic teams have started out strong!  The Girls Soccer Team is off to a 4-1 start after falling to Port Clinton, 1-0, on the road this past Saturday.  The girls were featured as ‘A Team to Watch’ with Brylee Jones featured as ‘A Player to Watch’ in The Chronicle Telegram! The Boys’ Soccer team is off to a 2-1-1 start after defeating Brooklyn at SAMS on Wednesday evening, 1-0.  The Varsity Volleyball team is off to a 1-1 start after dropping the opener at Columbia, but then returning home to defeat Fairview in four games for their home opener.  Golf and Cross-Country have also been active, as the Boys Cross-Country won the PAC Early Bird meet and finished second in the prestigious Avon Lake Early Bird at LCCC. Congratulations to the boys XC team who has been nominated for the JJHUDDLE/BUCKNUTS Ohio Team of the Week after winning the Icebreaker Invitational  Finally, the football team started 1-0 as they defeated Lutheran West, 33-27, in OT in front of a great crowd last Friday. Brad Thrasher was nominated as WEOL’s ‘Player of The Week”. The Mighty Falcon Marching Band entertained the entire crowd at the varsity football game. They brought down the house with a performance of “Shook Me all Night Long.”

The teams at SAMS have been working hard as well. The 7th grade volleyball team already brought home two wins and the eighth grade team got their first win beating Columbia last week. The girls play again on September 4th at home. The 7th and 8th grade football teams play their first official games today! They will face Clearview at home starting at 4:30.
