In accordance with the Firelands character education program, the eighth grade at SAMS participated in two service projects May 22, 2014. All eighth grade students did cleaning and landscaping duties at SAMS and at the Evergreen Cemetery across the street. SAMS teachers coordinate this project with the cemetery board of the Village of South Amherst and with the SAMS maintenance department. In the days leading up to the projects during their FIRE period, SAMS eighth graders learn about the importance of service and about different types of service. At SAMS faculty and staff are committed the formation of a student’s character in addition to their academic success!
