Robert E. Maver Jr.: High School Principal
Firelands Local Schools is proud to announce Robert Maver has been selected as the Principal of Firelands High School beginning with the 2014-2015 school year. Maver replaces Rick Reighley who will retire this year.
Maver received his B.S. in Mathematics from Ohio University (1987), his Secondary Licensure from St. Joseph University (1990), and his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Administration from Bowling Green State University (2006).
While at his current position, Assistant Principal at Midview High School, Maver has demonstrated strong instructional leadership. He is responsible for the development of a credit recovery program and increase in the PSEO offerings that includes classes in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and English/Language Arts. “I am looking forward to joining the staff at FHS and expanding the excellence that Firelands High School has achieved. A few goals are to increase CCP (College Credit Plus) options for FHS students at the High School, so they will not have to travel to LCCC to earn college credits. Also, my other goal is to increase the rigor and excellence of what our students will be exposed to in the FHS Classroom. By increasing our rigor and offerings at FHS, our students will be given every opportunity to achieve excellence when they graduate from FHS and enter the college, military, or career fields,” Maver said.
Prior to becoming The Assistant Principal, Maver had additional experience with Midview Local Schools. He was the Athletic and Activities Director from 2006-2009. From 1999-2006 Maver was in the classroom at Lakewood City Schools as a CBI Coordinator working with at-risk students. Additional work experience at Lakewood High School from 1991-1998 includes teaching Pre-Algebra to Trigonometry classes.
