Varsity SB to play at Field Dedication

2014 Varsity Softball Team

On May 5, 2014 they will be playing at Black River. While our team is there, the school will hold a Softball Field Dedication in honor of Dorothy “Mickey” Maguire Chapman.  Dorothy Chapman was a catcher and outfielder who played from 1943 through 1949 in the All- American Girls Professional Baseball League. She was one of the sixty original members of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.  The women from the baseball league was showcased in the movie, A League of Their Own. She was a longtime Spencer Township resident.

One of the original members of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, Eileen “Ginger” Gascon-1951 AAGPBL player, will be at the field dedication.
