This year Firelands has had the unique opportunity to participate in Erie County’s Academic Challenge competition for 5th, 6th, 7th ,and 8th grade. We are the only school in Lorain County participating in this program and we are pleased to represent our school and our county so well. Students compete against other schools from Erie County in the categories of math, science, social studies, geography, book study, and miscellaneous. The first Academic Challenge competition was held in late February and the scores from that competition will be combined with a second round challenge held this week for a combined grand total.
The second round of competition for the Academic Challenge teams will be held this week!
Grades 5 & 6: Wednesday, March 12 at 9:30
Grades 7 & 8: Thursday, March 13 at 9:30

Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams, coached by Mrs. Muth and Mrs. Copley, also did a great job at their first Academic Challenge competition. We are always proud of how hard our students work. Good luck to our teams at their second round of competition this week!
