Students in Mr. Latto’s Science class recently had the opportunity to participate in an interesting energy project, Walking On Eggs! The students approached this project as if they were engineers, with the concept that energy can be transformed or transferred but it is never lost.
Working in teams, the students had to build a pair of shoes that were capable of supporting a team member while he/she walked across two-dozen raw eggs, without cracking the shells. The building materials had to be found, free or common materials such as bubble wrap, styrofoam or cardboard.
The students then had to sell their designs by way of a commercial, rap, poem or song that explained the benefits of the shoes.
