After a very tough double overtime loss on their home floor last Friday, the Firelands Falcons were able to get back on track with a 66-48 win over the visiting Edison Chargers on Tuesday night.
For a while it seemed as if the Falcons might suffer another tough loss at home as the Chargers jumped out to an 18-10 first-quarter lead.
Head coach Brett Bartlett must have had a great speech prepared in between the first and second quarters because Firelands came out an entirely different team in the second.
The Falcons absolutely dominated Edison in every facet of the game in the second, opening the quarter with a 10-0 run that included back-to-back 3-pointers from Dakotah Klingshirm and James Willbond.
They also played very good defense, forcing six turnovers and giving up only four points in the quarter, while putting up 23 of their own.
After trailing by eight in the first, the Falcons took a 34-22 lead and all the momentum into the half.
The Chargers kept the game close in the third, and made things very interesting later in the second half.
Senior Chris Laughlin carried the Chargers on the night, scoring seemingly every time the Chargers really needed a basket.
He finished the night with a game-high 22 points, including four 3-pointers.Cheer bb
