Calamity Day Update

Due to the dangerous cold and wind chill, January 29th will be our 6th calamity day for the 2013-2014 school year.  School districts in Ohio are allotted 5 calamity or snow days a year.

Gov. John Kasich  urged the Ohio General Assembly and Ohio Department of Education to work together on legislation that would provide a one-time increase in the number of days that schools can take off because of snow or bad weather.

While we wait for a decision on whether or not the increase in calamity days will be passed, we have scheduled a make up day for February 28, 2014. February 28, 2014 was previously a NON-INSTRUCTIONAL DAY – NO STUDENTS day.  Please plan on students attending school on February 28, 2014.

We will keep the FLSD and our community up-to-date as the situation changes.
